The essence of the ICE-ON project is to use the energy of phase transformation of water into ice at the stage of energy storage and the use of energy of phase transformation of ice into water at the stage of returning contained energy.
The energy carrier is ice due to the incomparably higher density of energy contained in ice compared to ice water. Energy is released in the form of cold, which is used in air conditioning systems or industrial refrigeration processes.
In this way electrical energy generated by conventional sources and renewable energy sources can be stored. Therefore, the properties offered by ICE-ON allow for optimal management and use of non-renewable and renewable energy resources, as well as their cost- efficient management. The particular benefits of the solutions offered are seen in cooperation with variable weather and renewable sources of electrical energy from photovoltaic installations and wind farms. Occurring periods of oversupply of electrical energy can be stored in the form of cold and then in times when this excess does not occur, we can support cooling and air conditioning systems, thus saving non-renewable energy resources.
It should also be mentioned that during the transformation of electrical energy into cold, significant amounts of heat are generated, which, depending on the solutions, can be lost or used. This ICE-ON functionality gives unlimited application possibilities.

The ICE-ON BATTERY company has reserved technical solutions at the relevant patent offices and has planned a wide range of explorations and tests in cooperation with the Fraunhofer ISE institute.
